In line with its mandate of ensuring the protection of human rights for all in Nigeria, Nigeria’s human rights agency, the National Human Right Commission has inaugurated a Special Independent Investigative Panel on Human Rights Violations in Counter-Insurgency Operations in Boko Haram ravaged North-East of the country.
Inaugurating the panel Christened, “SIIP North East,” Nigeria’s chief Human Right Officer, Barrister Tony Ojukwu, said the panel is a product of its powers as contained in sections 5 and 6 of the NHRC Act, as amended.
