Speaking with TVC, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga said the term “sacked” does not accurately describe their departure.

“Ministers were not sacked; they were discharged,” he said.

Five ministers were shown the way out while seven were appointed as Tinubu reshuffled his cabinet.

The cabinet reshuffle, announced on Wednesday, affected Uju-Ken Ohanenye (Women Affairs), Lola Ade-John (Tourism), Tahir Mamman (Education), Abdullahi Gwarzo (Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development), and Jamila Ibrahim (Youth Development).

However, the president at a cabinet retreat in November of 2023, said ministers who pass his periodic performance assessment have nothing to fear. However those with below average performance would be shown the way out.
