The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) on Thursday said it raided a counterfeit alcohol production centre in Lagos.

According to NAFDAC, the centre is being operated in Article Market in Abule-Osun.

In a statement issued by the agency, and shared on its official Facebook Page, NAFDAC says, over 50,000 counterfeit branded labels and packaging materials for fake alcoholic beverages, valued at approximately ₦2 billion, were confiscated.

NAFDAC decried the implications of counterfeit products on public health and advised consumers to buy products from trusted vendors.

The agency also urged the public to report any suspicious products or activities to the nearest NAFDAC office nearby.

The agency’s fight against counterfeiting is now a daily routine.
