Mr. Udobong Ntia, the newly appointed Executive Vice President (EVP) of Upstream at NNPC Ltd., has pledged to drive initiatives that will enhance governance and compliance across Nigeria’s upstream oil sector.
Ntia made the commitment during his address at the “Upstream Governance, Risk and Compliance Workshop”, held in Lagos on Tuesday, 28th November 2024.
Ntia, who delivered the opening remarks at the event, stressed the importance of corporate governance, risk management, and compliance in fostering a sustainable and transparent oil and gas industry. “We are committed to providing the necessary enablers that will accelerate the implementation of initiatives aimed at enhancing governance, risk management, and compliance within the upstream sub-sector,” he stated.
The EVP’s remarks reflect NNPC Ltd.’s dedication to its core values of Integrity, Excellence, and Sustainability. He acknowledged the role of the industry’s leadership and regulatory bodies in creating a collaborative space for stakeholders to engage and address the challenges facing the sector.
The workshop brought together over 20 upstream operators from international oil companies in Nigeria, as well as key representatives from the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) and the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB).
The event emphasized the need for stronger governance frameworks, aligning with NNPC Ltd.’s focus on achieving the country’s mandate to sustainably increase crude oil production.
