The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has confirmed the death of four of its officers who were ambushed by bandits at the Farin-Kasa area of Chikun Local Government Area (LGA) in Kaduna State.

The incident occurred on November 18 when the NSCDC monitoring team was attacked by suspected Boko Haram terrorists while inspecting the national grid installation in Shiroro, Niger State.

In a statement released on Friday, NSCDC spokesperson Afolabi Babawale confirmed that four of the seven officers initially declared missing after the ambush had been found dead. He added that two officers had returned to base with injuries, while one officer remains unaccounted for.

NSCDC Commandant-General, Ahmed Audi, expressed his condolences to the fallen officers’ families and their colleagues. He praised the bravery and courage shown by the operatives during the attack and assured that the corps would cover their medical expenses and other welfare needs.

Audi condemned the attack, calling it a “brutal and devastating act of violence” and emphasized the need to prevent such incidents from escalating further. He also appealed to the public to support the NSCDC and other security agencies in their efforts to protect lives and property.
