Former Minister of Aviation, Osita Chidoka, has officially announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), revealing that he is stepping away from politics to focus on his non-profit organization, the Athena Centre.
In an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme, Chidoka shared that he had submitted his resignation letter to his ward in Anambra State earlier that day, marking the end of his association with the party.
“I am leaving the PDP, I am leaving politics for some time, and I am focusing on the Athena Centre,” Chidoka said during the interview. He went on to emphasize his commitment to collaborating with like-minded Nigerians to advocate for evidence-based governance and work towards reforming the nation’s political system.
Chidoka, who served as Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development under former President Goodluck Jonathan, expressed that his decision was driven by a desire to channel his energy into his philanthropic work. The Athena Centre, which he leads, is focused on creating a positive impact through social initiatives.
As a seasoned politician, Chidoka’s departure from the PDP marks a significant shift in his career, one that sees him dedicating his efforts to social change rather than political pursuits.
