The All Progressives Congress (APC) plans to end insecurity in Anambra State within three months after the elections.
Zonal Organising Secretary of the party, Mr. Dozie Ikedife, made the announcement during an interview on Saturday. Ikedife criticized Governor Charles Soludo’s handling of security issues, blaming his lack of seriousness for the worsening situation.
He pointed out that other Southeast states, including Enugu, Ebonyi, and Abia, have successfully contained insecurity, unlike Anambra.
He questioned the lack of action by Anambra’s government compared to its neighboring states, especially regarding security measures. Ikedife emphasized that the current governor’s indifference to the safety of citizens has worsened the security situation in the state. The APC chieftain assured that his party would bring a governor committed to tackling the insecurity within 100 days in office.
In the past two to three years, criminal gangs have devastated various towns in Anambra, crippling local economies. Some communities have been unable to conduct burials due to criminal activity, while others have had to pay ransoms for events to take place. High-profile citizens have been killed, and many residents have fled the state due to the escalating violence.
Anambra State’s gubernatorial election is set for November 8, 2025, with APC, APGA, PDP, and Labour Party vying for leadership.
