The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, has praised the emergency response team for their quick and professional actions in rescuing victims from two separate road accidents in Lagos.
The Corps Marshals praise was contained in a statement issued by Olusegun Ogungbemide, the FRSC Spokesman on Monday in Abuja.
The first crash, caused by brake failure, occurred at 1050HRS on the Apapa-Wharf route near Flour Mill, six kilometers from Mile 2, Lagos. Two containerized trucks, a red Mack and a green Mack, were involved. The crash investigation revealed four individuals were involved, with one sustaining injuries, including bruises and cuts, while the other three were unharmed.
The second crash, on November 25, 2024, occurred on the Euro 65-Signal Barracks route in Mile 2 Oke. A Mack truck carrying a 40-foot container collided with a Toyota Corolla, trapping the two passengers inside. Thanks to the quick action of the FRSC rescue team, both victims were rescued alive.
The proactive efforts of the FRSC team were particularly significant given the increasing traffic during the year-end travel period. Corps Marshal Mohammed commended the team for their professionalism and promptness. He also urged drivers to uphold minimum safety standards and called on fleet operators to ensure their drivers receive proper training in road safety dynamics.
