IGP Reaffirms Commitment to Police Accountability, Calls for Collaboration at National Summit

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to accountability and transparency in policing.

At the National Summit on Police Accountability, held at the Transcorp Hilton, IGP Egbetokun emphasized building public trust in law enforcement.

He stressed that accountability is a cornerstone of democratic policing, urging all stakeholders to work together for effective law enforcement.
IGP Egbetokun highlighted recent reforms, including expanding the Complaint Response Unit and reorganizing the IGP Monitoring Unit for internal oversight.

The IGP also called for citizens’ active participation in the accountability process to bridge gaps between police and the community.
Senator Ibrahim Gaidam’s representative, Mrs. Bolanle Aderenle, alongside other distinguished guests, attended the event, supporting the IGP’s message.

During the summit, the IGP emphasized that the police cannot fulfill their accountability goals without collaboration with citizens and organizations.

He reaffirmed the force’s commitment to a culture of accountability, where every officer upholds justice and equity for citizens.
IGP Egbetokun highlighted the Nigeria Police Force’s efforts to enhance its credibility through greater public engagement and transparent practices.

The IGP concluded that a transparent and inclusive policing strategy will help rebuild trust between law enforcement and citizens nationwide.
