Kano Palace Surrounded by Armed Forces Amid Power Struggle

Heavily armed policemen and State Security Service operatives have surrounded Kano Palace, restricting all movement in and out, Daily Post reports.

The security deployment follows Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II’s plan to install his newly appointed Wamban Kano in Bichi.

Sources reveal that Emir Sanusi II intends to accompany Munir Sanusi, the new Wamban Kano, to his district posting.

Bichi Emir’s Palace is also under tight security, with armed forces stationed to prevent any disturbances or protests.

This action comes after political tensions escalated between Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and the Kano Emirate Council.

Governor Yusuf recently invalidated the appointments of five emirs, leading to widespread discontent and calls for political change.

Despite the unrest, sources confirmed that the Bichi district remains under tight security to prevent further confrontations or clashes.

The ongoing situation underscores the deepening power struggle in Kano between rival factions and their political interests.
