Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State on Thursday warned Nigerians not to politicise the tax reform bills.
Speaking to journalists in Owerri, he expressed concern that many critics of the bills had not thoroughly examined them.
Uzodinma emphasized that the bills are designed to boost government revenue and streamline the country’s tax system.
He further explained that the reform aims to ensure financial discipline and improve Nigeria’s taxation framework.
The governor urged citizens to refrain from politicising the matter or engaging in blackmail, encouraging a more objective approach.
He praised the bills as well-crafted and deserving of proper scrutiny and attention. Uzodinma highlighted that the tax reform bills should not be trivialised, especially since they come directly from the president. He called on Nigerians to carefully review the bills before forming their opinions or offering criticism.
