In a series of successful operations, the Nigeria Police Force rescued 20 victims from multiple kidnapping attempts in December 2024.
On Sunday, Police Spokesman ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi issued a statement detailing these remarkable achievements, highlighting the dedication of officers across the country. On December 7th, police engaged armed bandits along the Katsina-Magamar Jibia road, rescuing 10 victims and forcing the suspects to flee after a fierce gun battle. The police acted swiftly, ensuring that all the victims were unharmed and safely rescued.
Later that evening, the police foiled another kidnapping attempt along the Funtua-Gusau road, rescuing an additional 10 victims. Alerted to the ambush, the police responded immediately, overpowering the criminals in a gun duel. In Akwa-Ibom State, police operatives rescued a woman who had been kidnapped for forced prostitution by a suspect named Abraham Patrick Francis. The suspect was arrested, and the victim was safely reunited with her family following the successful operation on December 4th.
On the same day, Akwa-Ibom police raided a kidnappers’ den, rescuing two more victims and recovering firearms and ammunition. In Rivers State, a 10-year-old boy, Emmanuel John, was rescued after being kidnapped, leading to the arrest of Nwile Bete. The suspect confessed to the crime and led police to the child’s location, where he was found unharmed and returned to his family.
In Taraba State, police operatives intercepted a gang of kidnappers, rescuing three victims and recovering AK-47 rifles and ammunition. One of the suspects, a notorious kidnapping kingpin named Idris Alhaji Jaoji, was arrested along with an accomplice, Jibo Alhaji Mai. Additionally, the Nigeria Police Force dismantled a major robbery syndicate in Benue State, arresting multiple suspects and recovering firearms, military camouflage, and stolen goods.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, commended the police operatives for their bravery and dedication. He assured the public that the police would continue to intensify security measures during the festive season to protect lives and property. The IGP’s statement emphasized the importance of the ongoing efforts to combat crime and ensure national safety.
