The Nigerian Government has partnered with UNESCO for a Bioethics Capacity Building program aimed at strengthening NABEC.
The five-day training program, held in Abuja, seeks to enhance the National Bioethics Committee members’ capabilities.
The Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji, emphasized NABEC’s role in promoting ethical conduct and responsible innovation.
NABEC’s Chairman, Prof. Abdullahi Mustapha, thanked UNESCO for its continuous support in advancing bioethics in Nigeria’s scientific framework.
Abdourahamane Diallo, UNESCO Representative, highlighted the training’s significance in empowering bioethics committees globally to ensure ethical innovation and research practices.
Dr. Dafna Feinholz from UNESCO discussed the importance of bioethics in a globalized innovation system.
The training follows the inauguration of NABEC in April 2023, which advises the government on bioethical challenges.
