Omoyele Sowore has launched a fierce attack on former Governor Peter Obi following his controversial visit to Afe Babalola.

The visit, which took place amid the ongoing trial of rights activist Dele Farotimi, has sparked widespread public outrage.

Obi led a delegation to Babalola’s office in Ekiti but refused to disclose the purpose of the visit.

The former Anambra governor also visited Farotimi in jail, further raising suspicions about his involvement in the case.

Sowore, the publisher of SaharaReporters, condemned Obi’s actions, accusing him of undermining efforts to address Nigeria’s judicial corruption.

He tweeted that the visit to Babalola was harmful to the struggle for justice, calling it “colossal injustice.”

The controversy centers around Farotimi’s book, “Nigeria and Its Criminal Justice System,” which implicates Babalola in corruption.

Farotimi’s book, which initially had low sales, quickly became a bestseller after his arrest, fueling interest in the allegations.

Protests against Farotimi’s detention were scheduled in cities like Lagos, Abuja, Ekiti, and London on Tuesday.

Leaked U.S. government cables have revealed Babalola’s alleged involvement in bribing judges to secure favorable rulings.

Sowore’s attack on Obi highlights the growing tensions surrounding the trial and the need for judicial reform in Nigeria.
