President Bola Tinubu has called for peace and unity across Nigeria, emphasizing that despite political differences, Nigerians remain one nation.
The President made the statement on Tuesday while commissioning the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Technology Innovation Complex (BATTIC) at the headquarters of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) in Abuja.
In his speech, President Tinubu likened Nigerians to occupants of a single building, each residing in different rooms. He urged citizens to set aside political divides and work together for the greater good of the country.
The commissioning ceremony saw the President arriving at the NIS headquarters, where he was warmly received by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and the Comptroller-General of Immigration, Kemi Nandap.
BATTIC, an advanced technological hub, includes a Command and Control Centre for regular migration, the NIS Data Centre, an ECOWAS Biometric Card Production Centre, the Interior Data Centre, and a solar-powered facility. The complex is designed to enhance the security of Nigeria’s borders by identifying and managing migration risks, detecting irregular migration patterns, and monitoring unmanned borders in remote areas.
Comptroller-General Kemi Nandap stated that BATTIC will play a crucial role in securing Nigeria’s borders and improving the nation’s security by leveraging technology. The project is expected to set a new standard in border security and migration management across the country.
