Former lawmaker Dino Melaye has expressed his satisfaction over the recent imprisonment of Yahaya Bello in Kuje Prison.
The Federal Capital Territory High Court remanded the former governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, on Tuesday. The court decision followed charges of money laundering, with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) leading the case.
Justice Maryann Anenih of the FCT High Court ordered Bello’s remand pending his bail application. The court adjourned further hearings of the N110 billion money laundering case to early next year. The trial is now set for January 29 and 30, as well as February 25 and 27, 2024.
Dino Melaye, a former senator, reacted on social media after hearing the court’s decision. On his official X account, Melaye expressed his belief that Bello would eventually face imprisonment. Melaye boldly claimed to have predicted this outcome about six years ago, showing his confidence in the case.
The former lawmaker posted that his prediction was now coming true, as Yahaya Bello would spend Christmas in Kuje Prison. According to Melaye, all power rests with God, signaling his satisfaction with the court’s decision. The ex-senator’s post quickly gained attention, as many acknowledged the accuracy of his prediction.
The money laundering case against Bello, involving the N110 billion, has long been a topic of public interest. His imprisonment marks a significant moment in the ongoing investigation led by the EFCC. As the legal proceedings continue into 2024, it remains to be seen how the case unfolds. Many are watching closely, awaiting further developments.
