Kano State has established a Shura Council to promote inclusive governance and enhance policymaking through community engagement and advice.
Governor Yusuf announced the development on his X handle on Friday.
The council comprises 45 distinguished members, including renowned Islamic scholars, academics, and respected community leaders from across the state. Professor Shehu Galadanci will chair the council, with Professor Muhammad Sani Zahraddeen appointed as Vice Chairman. The council will provide expert advice on critical socio-economic and religious issues that impact the people of Kano.
Sheikh Abdulwahab Abdallah, Sheikh Karibullah Nasiru Kabara, and Dr. Bashir Aliyu Umar are notable members of the council. Other prominent members include Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, Professor Salisu Shehu, and Khalifa Hassan Kafinga.
Alhaji Shehu Wada Sagagi will serve as the Secretary and Head of Secretariat, overseeing the council’s operations. The primary objective of the council is to ensure that governance decisions are informed by expert insights and diverse perspectives.
The Shura Council will help bridge the gap between the government and the people, ensuring that important issues are addressed effectively. This initiative reflects the state’s commitment to inclusive governance and improving policymaking processes through meaningful community engagement and expert consultation.
