Niger Gov. Bago Presents N1.5trn 2025 Budget Proposal

Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has presented a proposed budget of N1.5 trillion to the Assembly.

The budget, labeled “Budget of Hope for Sustainability and Food Security,” was presented at the Assembly complex in Minna.

Governor Bago highlighted that the 2025 budget represents a 48.3% increase compared to the 2024 appropriation.

Over N196 billion is allocated for recurrent expenditure, while N1.3 trillion is designated for capital expenditure in the budget.

The budget’s revenue projections include statutory allocations, VAT, Federation Account receipts, IGR, and capital receipts, according to Bago.

The highest allocation, over N437 billion, is directed toward infrastructure, housing, and urban renewal sectors for 2025.

The Law and Justice sector receives the smallest allocation of about N3.5 billion in the proposed 2025 budget.

Governor Bago emphasized the budget’s focus on agriculture to drive economic growth and ensure long-term prosperity for Niger.

The administration’s commitment to sustainability, environmental health, and food security is also embedded in the proposed budget.

Bago affirmed that the budget’s preparation followed a participatory, people-centered approach, with input from various stakeholders and sectors.

The Governor urged stakeholders’ continued support for the 2025 budget to achieve its ambitious developmental goals and objectives.

Speaker of the Niger State Assembly, Abdulmalik Sarkin Daji, praised the Governor for effective resource management and fiscal responsibility.

Daji expressed confidence that the Assembly’s support would ensure the successful implementation of the 2025 budget’s key initiatives.

The Governor’s wife, Hajiya Fatima Umaru Bago, and key officials attended the second full budget presentation of the administration.

Traditional and religious leaders, alongside members of the state executive, were present at the budget presentation event in Minna.
