The Chinese People’s Liberation Army Defence University (PLA) has expressed a desire for deeper collaboration with the Nigerian Army.
This collaboration aims to enhance mutual understanding and share expertise in military training, education, and counter-terrorism strategies.
A Chinese delegation, led by Rear Admiral Hu GangFeng, met with the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede.
The delegation, which included military officials and course participants, arrived in Nigeria to exchange ideas with their Nigerian counterparts.
During the meeting, Rear Admiral GangFeng emphasized China’s commitment to international cooperation in military training and security efforts.
He assured the Nigerian Army of China’s support, particularly in strengthening their efforts to combat terrorism and insurgency.
In response, Lt.-Gen. Oluyede, represented by Maj.-Gen. Musa Etsu-Ndagi, highlighted the Nigerian Army’s success against terrorism in recent years.
Oluyede stressed that tailored operations and sustained training have significantly contributed to the Nigerian Army’s operational effectiveness in counterterrorism.
The Nigerian Army’s approach to combating insurgency includes dynamic operational strategies that target specific security threats across the country.
This has allowed Nigerian troops to make significant progress in reducing terrorist activities and curbing insurgency within the region.
Both nations are committed to fostering stronger military ties, ensuring continuous cooperation, and sharing best practices for operational success.
As a result, the collaboration between Nigeria and China is expected to strengthen the global fight against terrorism and insurgency.
