President Bola Tinubu has appointed Nwakuche Ndidi as the Acting Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service.
The announcement was made on Friday by Ja’afaru Ahmed, the Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Board. Ndidi’s appointment will officially take effect on December 15, 2024, following the expiration of the tenure of the current Comptroller-General, Haliru Nababa.
Ndidi, born on November 26, 1966, hails from Oguta in Imo State. He has had a distinguished career in Nigeria’s correctional services, holding various positions within the Nigerian Correctional Service. Prior to this appointment, he served as the Deputy Controller-General, overseeing the Training and Staff Development Directorate. His extensive experience in the service is expected to contribute significantly to his new role.
Ndidi is also a fellow of the prestigious National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies. Additionally, he holds the national honour of Member of the Federal Republic, a recognition of his significant contributions to Nigeria’s development.
In his new role, President Tinubu has urged Ndidi to leverage his wealth of experience and expertise. The President expressed confidence that Ndidi will effectively lead the Nigerian Correctional Service during this transition period.
