A top member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Farah Dagogo, has outlined critical challenges that could prevent the party from winning the 2027 presidential election.
In an exclusive interview with Daily Post, Dagogo argued that the ongoing internal crises within the PDP, driven by selfish ambitions, could significantly hinder its chances of success.
He highlighted the party’s internal struggles as a major obstacle, with certain individuals prioritizing personal gains over the collective good of the party and its supporters.
Dagogo, a former member of the House of Representatives, pointed to the party’s historical mistakes, especially before the 2015 elections, when a decision to sideline key figures like Chibuike Amaechi backfired.
He noted that pushing Amaechi and other governors out of the PDP, in favor of consolidating power under President Goodluck Jonathan, led to significant losses, particularly the presidency, which the PDP failed to retain.
Despite these setbacks, Dagogo remains optimistic about the PDP’s future.
He believes that, with a complete overhaul of its leadership structure, the party can overcome its crises and build a stronger opposition ahead of 2027.
He stressed the importance of focusing on the interests of the Nigerian people and rebuilding trust within the party, which he believes remains a viable alternative to the ruling APC.
If the PDP can resolve its internal issues and unite, it could once again become a credible force in Nigerian politics.
