President Tinubu delays the 2025 budget presentation to Wednesday, December 18, after initially scheduling it for Tuesday, December 17.
The National Assembly Service Commission (NASC) announced the postponement in a statement released on Monday, December 16.
The original date for the presentation was set for December 17, following Senate President Akpabio’s announcement on December 12.
The budget proposal of N47.9 trillion for 2025 was earlier approved by the Federal Executive Council on the same day.
This delay comes after Tinubu submitted the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper to the National Assembly.
The MTEF/FSP outlines key budgetary parameters and serves as the basis for planning government expenditure for the next three years.
The Senate had already approved the MTEF/FSP on December 3, facilitating the consideration of the 2025 budget proposal.
The NASC emphasized that staff must resume normal duties on Tuesday, adhering to earlier controlled entry instructions for the rescheduled date.
The President’s address is now scheduled to take place on Wednesday, December 18, with all necessary arrangements in place.
The 2025 budget presentation is a significant event for the nation’s financial planning and economic projections for the coming year.
