In a significant move to curb crime during the festive season, the Nigeria Police Force successfully foiled an attempted car theft and arrested 128 criminals.

The police intensified patrols and raids in various regions, leading to the seizure of dangerous weapons and the dismantling of criminal hideouts. The statement was issued by Police Spokesman, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on Tuesday.

On December 15th, officers from the Lagos State Command arrested a suspect, Charles Orji, who was attempting to steal a Toyota Hilux in Isheri Osun. A subsequent search of the suspect’s possession revealed seven different Toyota car keys, further linking him to car theft activities.

Additionally, police operatives in Lagos raided several criminal hideouts in the Isolo axis on December 14th, apprehending 43 suspects. During the operation, officers recovered large quantities of cannabis, daggers, swords, and several fetish items, all of which are believed to be linked to criminal activities in the region. The arrests and seizures reflect the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to maintaining law and order during the festive period.

States like Kaduna, Zamfara, Taraba, and Edo also witnessed similar operations as police stepped up efforts to combat rising criminal activities. The Force’s nationwide actions are part of a broader strategy directed by the Inspector-General of Police to ensure public safety during the yuletide season.

The police continue to urge citizens to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities, and cooperate with law enforcement to help create a safer environment for all.
