The Ogbonicha Ward Football Competition 2024 is set to kick off on December 26, 2024, at the Ogbonicha Central Field.
The competition, which will feature 5 teams, is aimed at promoting youth development and talent discovery in the ward.
While briefing Newsmen in Abuja, Mal. Idris Ademu a critical Stakeholder called on prominent children of Ogbonicha Ward to come and invest in the youths of the community. This investment he said would not only provide a platform for the youths to showcase their talents but also create job opportunities and stimulate economic growth in the area.
According to the head of Media and Public Orientation, Mr Abah Benjamin Eneojoh, the competition is a talent hunt that would provide a platform for the youths to showcase their skills and talents. “The competition will also serve as a means of promoting unity and social cohesion among the people of Ogbonicha Ward” he added.
The following teams are involved:
1. Lion Star FC of Ogalaja/Ofada
2. Young Star FC of Emododa
3. Adoja FC of Ogbonicha
4. Golden Star FC of Etiukwo/Ofodo
5. Super Star FC of Ofabo.
The fixtures for the competition are as follows:
– December 26, 2024: Lion Star FC vs Adojah FC (8:00 am),
Golden Star FC vs Super Star FC (4:00 pm)
– December 27, 2024: Lion Star FC vs Young Star FC (8:00 am), Golden Star FC vs Adojah FC (4:00 pm)
– December 28, 2024: Young Star FC vs Super Star FC (8:00 am)
– December 29, 2024: Adojah FC vs Young Star FC (8:00 am), Lion Star FC vs Golden Star FC (4:00 pm)
– December 30, 2024: Adojah FC vs Super Star FC (4:00 pm)
– December 31, 2024: Golden Star FC vs Young Star FC (8:00 am), Lion Star FC vs Super Star FC (4:00 pm)
The Chairman of the organising committee Mr. Atabo Caleb Emmanuel also appealed to all prominent children of Ogbonicha Ward to come and support the competition adding that, the investment will go a long way in promoting youth development and talent discovery in the community.
He urged Supporters to come out en-masse in solidarity for their clubs as such is the only way this noble gesture could be sustained.
