The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expelled Mr. Ali Odefa, the suspended National Vice Chairman from the Southeast zone.
Odefa was initially suspended from the party on September 11, 2024, by the Oguduokwor Ward Executives of the PDP for engaging in various anti-party activities. This suspension was later affirmed by the Federal High Court in Abakaliki on November 29, 2024, through a ruling on suit number FHC/AI/CS/182/2024.
The expulsion was announced during a well-attended press conference held by the Acting Chairman of the PDP Oguduokwor Ward, Hon. Onyedikachi Herbert Ovuta. The announcement was made in the presence of other Ward Executives, who reiterated that the expulsion followed the recommendations of the Party’s disciplinary committee.
According to the party’s statement, the committee found Odefa guilty of actions that violated the party’s principles and constitution. Hon. Ovuta explained that the decision to expel Odefa was based on the report, findings, and recommendations of the Ward Disciplinary Committee, which were in line with the PDP constitution.
He further stated that Odefa, as a result of the expulsion, no longer holds any membership within the party. The statement from the party further confirmed that the expulsion was ratified by the Executive Committee of the PDP Oguduokwor Ward on December 11, 2024.
As a consequence, Odefa ceases to be a member of the PDP, effectively ending his involvement with the party.
