President Tinubu Pays Tribute to Hajiya Rafat Salami’s Legacy

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has paid tribute to Hajiya Rafat Onyeche Salami, mourning her death and celebrating her legacy.

The tribute was contained in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Friday.

Tinubu described Salami as a dedicated journalist, who made remarkable contributions to Nigeria’s media landscape. The late Salami, who was recently elected Treasurer of the International Press Institute (IPI), also served as the Secretary of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Abuja Council.

In his message, President Tinubu extended condolences to the NUJ, IPI, Voice of Nigeria (VON), and the National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ). He acknowledged Salami’s unwavering commitment to journalism and her advocacy for women’s and children’s rights, which left an indelible mark on society.

Salami’s career spanned various roles, including that of a reporter, broadcaster, and producer, always striving to keep the public informed. Tinubu highlighted her strong voice and compassionate spirit as a testament to her professionalism and dedication.

As Nigeria bids farewell to the multilingual journalist, President Tinubu called on her colleagues, friends, and family to honor her legacy by continuing her impactful work.
