Ibrahim Atiku, a seasoned technocrat from Sokoto, has been appointed Deputy Clerk to the National Assembly (DCNA), with effect from February 2, 2025.
The official announcement was made in a letter dated December 19, 2024, signed by Engr. Ahmed Kadi Ahmshi, the Executive Chairman of the National Assembly Service Commission (NASC).
Atiku’s appointment was confirmed during the 616th meeting of the NASC on December 19. In the letter, Ahmshi praised Atiku’s outstanding work and administrative skills, noting that these qualities led to his selection for the position. The commission commended his commitment and professional achievements, which made him a strong candidate for the role.
The NASC emphasized the trust placed in Atiku and expressed expectations that he would continue to uphold high standards in his new role. The letter stated, “This appointment is in recognition of your hard work and administrative competence. It is expected that you will continue to uphold the confidence reposed in you.”
Prior to this appointment, Atiku served as the Director of Finance and Accounts for the House of Representatives. He is an alumnus of Usman Dan Fodio University, Sokoto, and holds multiple degrees in legislative studies. His academic background, along with his extensive professional experience, made him an ideal choice for the position.
Atiku also has a wealth of international training in governance and public administration, having attended programs at prestigious institutions such as Harvard University and Duke University, among others. His experience and qualifications are expected to bring valuable expertise to the National Assembly.
Atiku’s appointment follows the recent confirmation of Barrister Kamoru Ogunlana as Clerk to the National Assembly. Both Atiku and Ogunlana will assume their respective roles on February 2, 2025, when the current officeholders retire.
With his extensive background, Atiku is poised to contribute significantly to the National Assembly, continuing to build on his legacy of excellence in public service.
