CHRISTMAS: Reps Felicitate with Nigerians, Call for Unity, Peace, Love

The House of Representatives has extended warm Christmas greetings to all Nigerians, urging unity, peace, and love during this season.

In a press statement issued on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, by the House Spokesman, Rep. Akin Rotimi Jr., the House celebrated the birth of Jesus Christ and the enduring message of hope and compassion it brings. The festive season serves as a time to reflect on the values that unite Nigerians, such as forgiveness, generosity, and compassion, which are vital for national progress and harmony.

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, emphasized the importance of these values in fostering unity among Nigerians. He urged citizens to embrace the spirit of Christmas by transcending ethnic and religious divides. Speaker Abbas noted that the birth of Jesus Christ symbolizes newness and fulfillment, calling for a national rebirth. He appealed to Nigerians to use this time to pray for the country’s growth and a united leadership that aligns with their collective dreams.

Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, the Deputy Speaker, also shared a message of hope. He reflected on the values of love, forgiveness, and selflessness, embodied by the life of Jesus Christ. “Let His example inspire us to spread love, kindness, and compassion, especially to those facing challenges,” Kalu said. The Deputy Speaker encouraged Nigerians to be generous and caring towards others, particularly the less fortunate, during the festive season.

The 10th House of Representatives reaffirmed its commitment to promoting the welfare of all Nigerians, irrespective of background.
