However, he acknowledged that the state is still not entirely free from security challenges.
Mutfwang stated that security in Plateau has seen notable improvements, with technology, community mobilization, and proactive measures contributing to the positive change.
“Things are getting better security-wise. Certainly, we are better off this year than we were last year,” he said.
Despite the progress, Mutfwang clarified that the situation is “not 100%” secure and vigilance remains crucial.
The governor noted that while some isolated incidents still occur, Plateau was able to celebrate Christmas this year with “relative peace.”
Last year, the holiday season was marked by mourning due to security issues.
The improvement in security is seen as a sign of hope for the people of Plateau, who had faced persistent challenges in previous years.
Mutfwang credited the state’s enhanced security to collaborative efforts between security forces, local communities, and the support of the federal government.
He reassured the public that the government would not ease up in its efforts to ensure peace.
“With the support of Mr. President, we are not going to take our foot off the pedal,” he added.
The governor also emphasized the importance of sustained efforts in security.
He called for more investment in Plateau, stating that the improved climate makes the state an attractive place for business.
Mutfwang expressed optimism about the future, noting that he believed 2025 would bring further improvements for the state.
During his visit to President Tinubu, Mutfwang took the opportunity to update the president on the security situation in Plateau.
“The President has been very concerned about the security situation on the Plateau,” Mutfwang said.
He acknowledged Tinubu’s support as instrumental in the ongoing efforts to stabilize the state.
Governor Mutfwang’s remarks highlighted a promising trajectory for Plateau State, with security improvements paving the way for increased investment and development.
Despite acknowledging challenges, he remains confident that with continued vigilance, the state will progress even further.
