Vice President Kashim Shettima has visited Jigawa State today to express his condolences to Governor Umar Namadi.
The governor recently suffered the tragic loss of his mother, Hajiya Maryam, and his eldest son, Abdulwahab. Hajiya Maryam passed away on Christmas Day, December 25, while Abdulwahab died in a fatal car crash the following day.

The 24-year-old son died in a horrific accident on December 26, just a day after his grandmother’s passing. This double tragedy has left the governor and his family in deep sorrow. Vice President Shettima departed Maiduguri on Saturday at 12:35 GMT, accompanied by Borno State Governor Prof. Babagana Zulum.
The two leaders traveled to Jigawa to offer support during this difficult time. Shettima’s visit was a gesture of solidarity with Governor Namadi. The Vice President had been in Borno State for the Christmas break, spending time with family before departing for Jigawa.
Shettima’s presence was deeply appreciated by the grieving governor. The loss of two close family members in such a short span is a heavy blow for anyone. Shettima and Governor Zulum extended their sympathies, offering both moral and emotional support to the bereaved governor.
