National Assembly Clerk Commits to Reform, Staff Welfare, and Infrastructure

Mr. Kamoru Ogunlana, Clerk to the National Assembly, has reaffirmed his dedication to key reforms, staff welfare, and infrastructure improvements. These reforms include the amendment of the National Assembly Service Act and the National Assembly Pension Board (Establishment) Bill, aimed at enhancing parliamentary efficiency.

In a statement signed by Mr. Bullah Audu Bi-Allah, the Director of Information, Ogunlana shared his vision during his first meeting with senior National Assembly officials.

He stressed the importance of prioritising staff welfare, as it directly impacts productivity. He also promised to build on his predecessor’s infrastructural progress and tackle emerging security challenges.

Ogunlana commended the leadership for its significant contributions to maintaining the Assembly’s efficiency and called for continued teamwork. He highlighted the National Assembly’s status as the largest and most dynamic parliament in Africa.

“Only through our collective commitment to progress can we ensure excellence, professionalism, and accountability in service to Nigerians,” Ogunlana said.

Additionally, Ogunlana acknowledged the changing landscape of governance and the need for the National Assembly to remain adaptable and resilient. He expressed his determination to continue improving the legislative process to meet the growing demands of the country and support the government’s development agenda.

His leadership, he stated, would focus not only on legislative reforms but also on improving communication and transparency within the National Assembly. Ogunlana’s vision aims to create an institution that is more responsive to the needs of both the public and the government.
